Civilian studies (general profile), specialization: seagoing navigation; military studies (practical profile): operation of ship systems.
The studies last for 3 semesters. The military studies allow to acquire theoretical knowledge on the operational level (the extended program) – according to the STCW Convention 78/95.
Civilian students do not have the duty of vocational practice due to the general program of the studies. Military students fulfil the vocational practice in the course of 2nd degree studies according to the curriculum. During the last semester students prepare their MA thesis and take the diploma examination, which is a condition to acquire the title of Master of Science.
The graduates of 2nd degree military studies, after completing their sailing practice, are qualified to be granted the degree of a deck watchkeeping officer in international navigation on ships 500 gross tonnages or more. Civilian students acquire these qualifications after 1st degree studies. After graduating from 2nd level studies, military students are promoted to Navy officers.
Mechanical Engineering
(practical profile), speciality: Engine Room Operation (ESO)
Studies last 3 semesters. Military students carry out their practice on Polish Military naval vessels. Civilian students carry out their practice in project and production companies connected with the shipping industry, navigation companies and ship owners. The field of the studies covers modern machine industry and advanced electrical technologies, combining rudimentary mechanical knowledge, the construction and exploitation of machines with a broad electrotechnical background.
Mechatrinics

Studies last 3 semesters. Computer Techniques in Mechatronics, is an offer for those who wish to gain knowledge and the abilities in the field of using advanced information technology tools for the needs of mechatronics, specifically designing, programming and machine exploitation and mechatronical systems enabling students to gain knowledge in the field of the construction and laws of exploitation of mechatronical systems and devices with the consideration of modern engineering materials, the knowledge of modern tools and IT languages to enable the performance of mechatronical devices in accordance with algorithms, the knowledge of modern methods of controlling devices and mechatronical systems, as well as methods form the field of artificial intelligence. The programme of the studies stipulates a four-week practice after the first semester. The practice is carried out in accordance with agreements made between the faculty and companies (institutions, enterprises) working within the field in accordance with the faculty. Mobile Autonomic Systems is an offer for candidates for professional soldiers during the studies officer cadets serve for nine weeks in military units and companies.
National Security
(general academic profile), specialties:
- Public Security
- National Maritime Security
- International Humanitarian and Migration Law.
Studies last 4 semesters. The studies prepare for duty and work in the structures of the Ministry of National Defense as well as other government institutions and municipal corporations in the extent of overall security. The graduate of this degree course is prepared for auxiliary as well as individual posts in the field of military and non-military state security, security administration and administering crisis risk management situations.
Homeland Security
(general academic profile), specialties:
- Administration of Security and Public Order
- Crisis Management
- Maritime Security and Migrations (2 semesters in English).
Studies last 4 semesters. The studies prepare for duty and work in the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (police, border guard, fire department, customs service, emergency management forces etc) as well as authority of the state and local administration, administration and companies connected with homeland security, management and executive posts. The degree course Maritime Security and Migrations (in English) enables preparation for work and duty in EU organs handling border protection (especially the longest ie maritime border) and migrations like Frontex-the European Border and Coast Guard Agency. This specialty educates in the fields of: group rights in Polish and international law, history of migrations, migration's policies in EU and in some other states, international humanitarian law of armed conflict, exploitation of sea resources, international maritime organisations, special forces in national security and national defense, international human rights law.
Information Systems in Security
(general academic profile), specialties:
- IT Systems in Administration,
- Geographic Data and Information.
Studies last 4 semesters. In the field of professional knowledge the graduate has the skills to abstractly comprehend the idea of security and is able to choose a specific and optimal means of procedure. Should be able to take into account the risk and foresee the results of undertaken decisions. Should apply operations research, numeric methods, computer simulation, data analysis and visualization, high performance calculation systems to carry out homeland security tasks. Graduates should know to solve complex professional problems, lead and creatively participate in team work, lead human resources, be prepared to work as manager in public administration, especially in posts regarding homeland security.
Space and Satellite Technologies
interdisciplinary and intercollegiate profile: the Naval Academy, the Gdańsk University of Technology, the Maritime University of Gdynia (general academic profile) specialties (WDiOM):
- Space and Satellite Applications in Security Systems.
Studies last 3 semesters. Started in the academic year 2016/2017. Studies are realized by the Gdańsk University of Technology on Electronics, Telecommunication and IT, mechanical departments, the electronic department at the Maritime University of Gdynia and WDiOM Faculty of Naval Academy. Specialties:
- Information and Teleinformation Technology in Space and Satellite Engineering (Electronics , IT and Teleinformation Faculty of the Gdańsk University of Technology),
- Mechanical and Mechatronical Technologies in Space Engineering (Mechanical Faculty of the Gdańsk University of Technology),
- Maritime Satellite and Space Systems (Electrical Faculty of the Maritime University of Gdynia),
- Space and Satellite Applications in Safety Systems (WDiOM , the Naval Academy).
This degree course functions within a project co-financed by the European Social Fund. It is part of an operational programme Knowledge Education Progress, it is financed by the NCBiR project: Adjusting Cosmic and Satellite Technology IInd degree course to market demand. Thanks to that the realisation of the studies programme is in strict cooperation with employers from the cosmic and satellite engineering sector. Only in the Pomeranian Voivodeship operate over twenty companies from the space and satellite sector. To name : Black Pearls VC, Flextronics International Poland, OPEGIEKA, Blue Dot Solutions, Space Forest, SiGarden. This new degree course is an answer to the rise in demand for specialists in such elite and highly innovative fields connected with the exploration and harnessing of space with the usage of Earth satellites. The satellites can be further used for telecommunication, navigating, teledetecting and other purposes. Employers ' representatives take part in determining and executing specific course subjects, group projects as well as final students' thesis.
International Relations
This degree course has been distinguished by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for deploying systems of improving the quality of education. Currently on the 1st and 2nd degree students realise two projects. "The development of vocational, communicational and analytical competence of the Naval Academy International Relations students' " and "Quality internships for the Naval Academy International Relations students'."
Studies last 4 semesters. The graduate is prepared to work in Polish and international institutions and structures handling administration and public security, national security and institutions connected with homeland security. Graduates can analyse and diagnose international background in order to prevent potential safety threats, therefore is qualified to work in companies and institutions developing international cooperation on the political, economic and cultural plane. The programme envisages practice at partners from the works council and state and international institutions.
Pedagogy
(practical profile), specialties:
- Integrated Early School Education,
- Social Pedagogy.
Studies last 4 semesters. Integrated Early School Education is addressed to candidates who have already acquired pedagogical knowledge. Graduates are qualified to teach I-III grade pupils, in kindergarten and school dayrooms. Studies comprise of compulsory practice in schools and educational institutions.
Social Pedagogy is addressed to Undergraduate Education graduates from social and humanistic departments and graduates of other departments who have pedagogical training. Graduates are prepared to work in institutions and organisations from the field of lifelong education, social animation, integrating teachers, parents and institutions dealing with educating children and youth, working with individuals and groups threatened with social exclusion, organising free time activities for children and youth threatened with social exclusion, promoting new forms of satisfying human needs, helping individuals to adjust to social change.
