On Thursday, 12th of September 2019 at the Bulgarian Naval College named after Nikola Yonkov Vaptsarov the Rector-Commandant of Polish Naval Academy, rear-admiral prof. Tomasz Szubrycht was awarded a honorary degree of doctor honoris causa. 

The the highest distinction was admitted by the decision of the Academic Board– for the continuous contribution in the building the international co-operation between the two schools.

During the ceremony the Commandant of the Bulgarian Naval College admiral prof. dr Boyan Mednikarov announced the decision of the Academic Board and passed the honourable sign and diploma to the honoured. The ceremony was fulfilled with many distinguished guests and noumerous group of Bulgarian Cadets. The Rector-Commandant thank for such a great distinction and presented the lecture "Challenges for Polish Navy". 

After the ceremony, according to the tradition of the Bulgarian Naval College, the rear-admiral Thomasz Szubrycht planted a tree in the College park.
