National Day of Kuwait celebrated in the Academy

On the 25 of February the Polish Naval Academy was celebrating the National Day of Kuwait. On that occasion the Kuwaiti and Polish flags have been raised and played national anthems of both states.  

In the VII century the area of today State of Kuwait was located in the frame of Arab - Muslim Caliphate. In the XVIII a group of people who left the Saudi region established the City of Kuwait. From 1899 to 1961 Kuwait was under Protectorate of Great Britain. On the 19th of June 1961 Kuwait announced independence. 

On the 2nd of August 1990 the State of Kuwait has ben conquered by Iraq. In the frame of "Desert Storm" operation allied forces led by USA with participation of the Polish assets (rescue ship ORP "Piast" playing the role of a medical ship) restored the independence of the State of Kuwait. That day become the National Day. It was the forth celebration in the Academy, since the first group of Kuwaiti cadets attended the studies in our Academy.
