Representative of the Academy nominated to the GEBCO Commettee

Lt. Phd.eng. Karolina Zwolak representing Institute of Navigation and Hydrography has been nominated to the GEBCO Guiding Committee managing GEBCO - international organisation dealing with creating bathymetric charts of the oceans. The roots of GEBCO (General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans) starts in 1903, when the Commission assemblied in Wiesbaden led by Albert I - the Prince of Monaco, initiated drafting the first bathymetric maps of the Atlantic Ocean. Currently, GEBCO works under auspicies of International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) and Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) supported by representatives of governmental, scienicific and commercial organisations. Participation of lt. Zwolak  in GEBCO started by attending Nippon/GEBCO Ocean Mapping training Programme - one year studies at the Center of Coastal and Ocean Mapping / Joint Hydrographic Center of the New Hampshire University in the USA.
